An Overview on the Nuclear Energy Innovation Capabilities Act
On February 17, 2016, FNS hosted a luncheon briefing on current legislation involving nuclear innovation. In particular, both the House and Senate have introduced acts that would expand support from R&D facilities towards advanced reactor entrepreneurs. The Foundation began the forum with remarks from the Hon. David Garman, former Under Secretary of Energy for the DOE, and concluded with comments from Mr. Irfan Ali and Mr. Samuel Thernstrom. Overall, the panel agreed that legislation such as the House’s Nuclear Energy Innovation Capabilities Act is a welcomed, and significant, step in the long process of commercializing new nuclear technology.
